Couples counselling that starts with being heard
Most couples do not come to therapy because they have run out of love. They come because the same conversation keeps happening, and neither person feels received. One reaches. The other protects. Both leave the room lonelier than they intended.
Online couples counselling can be a place to slow that pattern down — not to decide who was right, but to hear what each of you has been trying to say underneath the words that keep missing.
When the same conversation keeps happening
It might sound like chores, money, parenting, or whose family comes first. Often it is also about something quieter: Do I matter here? Can I be honest without starting a war? Will you stay if I need more?
By the time people reach out, they are usually tired. Tired of being the one who brings it up. Tired of being the one who shuts down. Tired of loving someone and still feeling unseen.
What couples work can hold
- Communication that turns sharp, or disappears
- Recurring conflict and the repair that never quite lands
- Feeling more like roommates than partners
- Trust that has been strained
- Life transitions — a move, a child, a loss, a new country
- Cultural and family expectations sitting between you
I also work with individuals who want to understand their part in a relationship, even if their partner is not ready to attend. That work can be just as meaningful.
How online sessions work for two people
You can sit together in one room, or join from two places if that is safer or more practical. What matters is privacy and enough calm to stay with the conversation.
Online couples counselling can be especially helpful when schedules are full, when you live in different cities in Ontario, or when coming into an office would make the first step harder than it needs to be.
What I pay attention to
My work is collaborative and culturally sensitive. In couples sessions I may draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy, when the feelings under the argument need more air, and from solution-focused or narrative work when you need a clearer next step.
I am not here to take sides. I am here to help each of you become more understandable to the other — and to yourself. Sometimes that means naming a pattern. Sometimes it means making room for grief that has been wearing the costume of anger.
A first call, together or on your own
If you are wondering whether this is the right time, we can start with a free 15–20 minute consultation. One of you can book it. Both of you can be on the line. We will see whether this feels like a space where you can both be heard.
